Lal Vs Football

I always laugh whenever I remember this incident....!

I joined BSc Computer Science in Government Arts college, Salem.

There was an announcement for intra college tournaments for all the games. Since we play good in cricket and Volleyball we have decided to participate on these two games. One of my friend wanted to participate in Foot ball as well.

"Lal, lets participate in football also".

"Raghu, I dont think we have guys who play foot ball".

"Hey come on, lets just participate and see".

"We need to find 11s from just 18 of our classmates, ok lets try".

Just few Mins before Match started...

"Hey lal, who will be the goal keeper?!".

"I can be...!".

"No, you need to play in forwards.... So, hmmm, who can be the keeper..!?".

In the mean while Gowriraj came and told us that he also wants to play...! Moreover he wants to be the Goal keeper. "Ragu, I will do the goal keeping yaar".

"Gowri, Can you do that? have you ever played foot ball?".

"I have played in school team".

"Raghu, its seems Gowri played for his school team, so I think we have a better player with us".

Match started......!!

After few Mins......

Raghu who was the captain pushed the ball to our goal keeper to collect the ball as opponent guys were very close to the goal post.

The ball was bouncing and bouncing and went to the goal keeper slowly. Our goal keeper bent down and kicked the ball very hard. But failed to connect the ball and it went to the net...! Oh god, yes, it became same side goal..!

"Gowri, why did you kick the ball? I pushed the ball to you to collect it. Why did not you catch the ball?".

"Hey, We should not touch the ball by hands rite? We can only kick the balls..!"

"Oh Gowri..! Goal keeper can touch the ball. Oh my god, dont you know that? You said that you have been played for school team!?".

"Yeah, I have played for school team. But I never ever played as a goal keeper and I always played in forward positions".

"!?...!?...!?...!?...!?"

"Dai lal, People who just watch the foot ball match know that goal keeper can touch the ball. He is saying that never ever played as goal keeper so he doesn't know" Raghu said.

After hearing such a statement from him we just laughed like anything. What else we can do!? - Still I laugh whenever I remember his statement.

Then we asked him to play in forward position.

Again after few Mins...

There was the ball bouncing and going towards him. This time, he jumped up fully and kicked the ball like a kunk fu master. Again he failed to connect the ball and end up kicking our team mates face. His specs got broken and started bleeding from his face. So he had to go out. We could not get substitute as every one scared of his kick.

So the match result was 0-2. So we lost the game.

After few Years... I joined REC, Trichy for my MCA. Even Gowri also joined the same class with me.

There was a foot ball match between 1st year(we) and 2nd year batches. This time we have chosen Arun as our captain since he told us that he had played for his college team. And he decided to play full back. This time Gowri did not play so I thought there would be a chance for winning the game.

Match started....

Our Captain kicked the ball. The ball did not even reach 10 mtrs. So our opponents put the goal easily. He kicked many times but could not reach 10 mtrs at all. So the ball could not cross our half. We hardly took the ball to opponents side. So finally we lost the game by 0-3.

Never won any foot ball matches....! Atleast I should win the match in the computer...!
